* If you live in a harsh climate and you choose to keep your Portable Farm™ outside, then your choice for a structure (greenhouse, etc.) is a vital consideration for your climatic needs, the esthetics you'd like to archive and the cost and labor to assemble the structure. You may also choose to put your Portable Farm™ indoors to protect your fish and plants from any extreme temperatures. For example, you can put your Portable Farm™ in a garage or a barn and rely on growing lights instead of sunshine for your plants.

* There are additional materials that are not provided in your Portable Farms™ Kit, but can be purchased at home stores, hardware and pet stores. Greenhouse and fish tanks are not included in the price of the Portable Farms™ Kit. For more information about other items, please call us, 760-751-4156.

* Please note: Fingerlings (baby fish) are shipped to you four weeks after your Portable Farms™ begins circulating water, and your vegetable seedlings are in place. This delay is required to allow your system to achieve balance and grow nitrification bacteria to treat the fish waste. Introducing your fish too early will kill them from ammonia poisoning.

* IMPORTANT TO NOTE: To date, the National Organic Standards Board has not yet set standards for any fish to be labeled as organic. But, Tilapia and catfish are both herbivores (vegetarian) and can be fed vegetable protein as their food source. Duckweed and algae (both high in plant protein) can be raised in a Portable Farm™ to provide the feed for your fish. This way, you can control the quality of your fish to meet your own dietary guidelines.
