We have daily requests from organizations who want to help people in countries around the world. The only way the Portable Farms™ Aquaponics Systems' technology is available outside of the US and Canada is through a Nationwide Government Technology Licensing Agreement from Portable Farms LLC.

* If you live in a harsh climate and you choose to keep your Portable Farms™ Aquaponics System outside, then your choice for a structure (greenhouse, etc.) is a vital consideration for your climatic needs, the esthetics you'd like to archive and the cost and labor to assemble the structure. You may also choose to put your Portable Farms™ Aquaponics System indoors to protect your fish and plants from any extreme temperatures. For example, you can put your Portable Farms™ Aquaponics System in a garage or a barn and rely on growing lights instead of sunshine for your plants.

* Please note: Fingerlings (baby fish) are shipped to you three weeks after your Portable Farms™ Aquaponics System begins circulating water, and your vegetable seedlings are in place. This delay is required to allow your system to achieve balance and grow nitrification bacteria to treat the fish waste. Introducing your fish too early will kill them from ammonia poisoning.

* IMPORTANT TO NOTE: To date, the National Organic Standards Board has not yet set standards for any fish to be labeled as organic. But, Tilapia and catfish are both herbivores (vegetarian) and can be fed vegetable protein as their food source. Duckweed and algae (both high in plant protein) can be raised in a Portable Farms™ Aquaponics System to provide the feed for your fish. This way, you can control the quality of your fish to meet your own dietary guidelines.

The reason we use Tilapia in Portable Farms™ Aquaponics System is because Tilapia fingerlings are available year round. Catfish fingerlings are only available in the months of May, June and July. And, Tilapia are a warm-water fish which is vital to the optimal growing conditions of the plants within the farm. Our plants like warm 75 - 80 degree F water on their 'feet' instead of cold water. But then, who wouldn't?
